Job Description - RBT Training Director

LittleStar ABA Therapy works with children, teens, and young adults affected by autism. Operating as a non-profit organization, we use our resources to ensure quality services to our patients, and to invest in our staff and the autism community. We have been improving the lives of individuals with autism for over 20 years!

We are currently seeking a RBT Training Director. The RBT Training Director is responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and quality assurance of training and continuing development opportunities for all LittleStar clinical staff. In this role, the RBT Training Director enhances the capabilities of employees by helping to design and conduct training programs that boost employee performance in aligning with LittleStar’s mission and vision. This includes assessing training needs as well as design and delivery of curriculum. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Assess training needs throughout the organization and lead the design and development of both initial and ongoing training programs 
  • Oversee creation of and upkeep of training materials 
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training; solicits staff feedback on training; makes adjustments as needed 
  • Assist the Clinical Directors in ensuring that all staff are trained on best practice procedures based upon the principles of behavior analysis, and commensurate with the responsibilities of their job duties 
  • Oversee initial training of Technicians by RBT Training Specialist and assist with curriculum delivery as needed. 
  • Monitor completion of training for each Technician within the program including initial and ancillary trainings 
  • Serve as a consultant for BCBAs regarding performance improvement for all clinical staff 
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and lead corrective actions to ensure ongoing integration and implementation of all existing training systems and strategies.
  • Oversee the Crisis De-escalation and Intervention (CDI) Physical Management curriculum implementation and training of Clinical Directors to function as Trainers of the curriculum 
  • Lead all training projects as assigned by the VP of Compliance and Training 
  • Supervise all duties of the RBT Training Specialist 
  • Maintains client, family and employee confidentiality per LS policy and HIPAA Privacy Rule Regulations.

Educational Qualifications and Skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in ABA, Psychology, Education, or related field required 
  • Ten years + of prior experience developing and implementing ABA training curricula preferred 
  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted when competency in the role is demonstrated. 
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) required 
  • Current CPR/Basic First Aid certification 
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Positive team player and energetic professional 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks 
  • Good judgment and creating thinking skills 
  • Ability to learn and manage electronic learning management systems 
  • Adept with a variety of audiovisual, multimedia training platforms and methods 
  • Ability to design and implement effective training 
  • Ability to communicate appropriately given the circumstances of the situation and individuals involved 
  • Experience supervising others and giving others feedback on their performance is required 
  • Adept with a variety of audiovisual, multimedia training platforms and methods 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite and related program software; Relias experience preferred. 
Supervisory Responsibility 
This position supervises the work of RBT Training Specialists. 

Work Environment
Position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and 
audiovisual equipment. This position may be eligible for telecommuting per the telecommuting policy 
depending on organizational needs and at supervisor’s discretion.

Physical Demands 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to 
successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. 

Travel 
Travel is generally not expected for this position but may be occasional to remote sites and/or training 
events or conferences, as needed

Condition of Employment 
  • Must successfully pass the initial and updated criminal history, background, and record checks, which includes driving history checks. 
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as provided by LittleStar, as required, for illness (i.e. masks, etc.).
