Pay: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Location: Asheville, NC with a flexible hybrid approach. We support remote work when practical, but this position requires regular in-person availability for client signings, closings, relationship building, and other activities where being in the office adds value. Candidates should live in or be willing to relocate to the Western North Carolina area.

Note: An active North Carolina Bar license in good standing is required. Real estate closing experience is preferred but is not required; attorneys with strong related real estate, title, or transactional experience are encouraged to apply.

Job Description

  • Manage residential and commercial real estate closings from contract through post-closing.
  • Review title work, identify and resolve title defects, and coordinate title commitments and final policies.
  • Prepare and review deeds, deeds of trust, settlement statements, title opinions, and other closing documents.
  • Conduct and oversee closings while ensuring compliance with North Carolina closing requirements and lender expectations.
  • Communicate directly with clients, lenders, real estate agents, title professionals, and opposing counsel to keep transactions moving efficiently.
  • Handle title curative matters, including corrective deeds, lien releases, and related documentation.
  • Advise clients on real estate matters and assist with related issues such as easements, boundary matters, 1031 exchanges, and entity formation.
  • Maintain accurate trust account and closing fund procedures.
  • Build strong professional relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina Bar license in good standing.
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 1+ years of directly relevant legal experience preferred, with real estate, title, closing, or transactional experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of North Carolina real estate law, title standards, recording procedures, or closing practices is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and client-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines independently.
  • Willingness to be physically present in the Asheville/Western North Carolina area when needed.
