Job Description
- Represent lenders and financial institutions in sophisticated real estate secured financing transactions and commercial loans.
- Work with partners on complex real estate finance and transactional lending matters.
- Draft and negotiate loan agreements, notes, mortgages, deeds of trust, guarantees, and other financing documents.
- Manage transactions from initial due diligence and documentation through negotiation and closing.
- Review title commitments, surveys, organizational documents, and other transaction diligence materials.
- Identify and resolve legal, collateral, and closing issues affecting lending transactions.
- Communicate directly with clients, borrowers, opposing counsel, title companies, and other transaction participants.
- Support traditional lender finance matters and potentially assist with public finance transactions.
- Assist with bond transactions involving nonprofit organizations, infrastructure projects, and public private partnerships when applicable.
- Contribute to client relationships and the continued growth of the real estate finance practice.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Active DC, MD, or VA bar license.
- 4+ years of directly relevant real estate finance or commercial lending experience.
- Experience representing lenders or financial institutions in commercial financing transactions.
- Experience with real estate secured lending and commercial loans.
- Experience drafting and negotiating loan and financing documents.
- Experience reviewing title and survey matters.
- Strong written, oral, analytical, organizational, and client communication skills.
- Ability to manage transactions independently while collaborating effectively with partners and deal teams.
- Public finance or municipal bond experience is preferred but not required.
