Job Description - Recruiter / Talent Acquisition

The Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center (FPJDC) is seeking a passionate, driven, and people-focused Recruiter to help us identify and hire professionals dedicated to working with at-risk youth in a secure juvenile justice environment.


This is not your typical recruiter role.


As part of Team FPJDC, the Recruiter goes beyond staffing vacancies - it's about finding role models in our community that have the compassion, resilience, integrity, and leadership needed to positively impact the lives of young people during some of their most difficult moments. Every hire matters. Every employee influences our facility culture. Every team member helps shape outcomes for youth and families.


We are looking for someone who can:



  • Connect with purpose-driven candidates

  • Recognize character and potential beyond a resume

  • Serve as an ambassador for our agency and mission

  • Think creatively about recruitment and retention

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment

  • Build relationships with colleges, workforce partners, military communities, and local organizations

  • Help identify people who can balance accountability with compassion


This role works closely with Human Resources, Operations, Training, and Leadership staff to ensure we are bringing in the best possible people to serve our youth and community.

Ideal Candidates Have:



  • Recruiting, HR, staffing, or talent acquisition experience (minimum 1-3 years)

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • The ability to identify high-character individuals

  • Creativity, initiative, and professionalism

  • A passion for public service and helping others
