Position Summary

Krause Auto Group is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Regional IT Field Technician to join our growing Information Technology team. This position provides hands-on technical support to multiple dealership locations, primarily throughout North and South Carolina. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with users, taking ownership of problems, and working independently while still being part of a larger IT team.

This is a field-based IT position with a mix of onsite and remote support responsibilities. Travel between dealership locations is an expected part of the role, with occasional travel to other Krause Auto Group locations as business needs, projects, acquisitions, or technology initiatives require. Some overnight travel may be necessary from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote technical support for dealership employees and departments.


• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, phones, mobile devices, network connectivity, Wi-Fi, and dealership technology.


• Install, configure, maintain, and replace computers and related hardware.


• Assist with Microsoft 365, Windows, user accounts, email, applications, and endpoint management.


• Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including computer setup, account access, and equipment deployment.


• Assist with network equipment, switches, wireless access points, cabling, internet connectivity, and basic network troubleshooting.


• Support IP phones and dealership communication systems.


• Work with third-party vendors and dealership technology providers to diagnose and resolve issues.


• Assist with new dealership acquisitions, technology upgrades, equipment deployments, and IT projects.


• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, equipment, inventory, configurations, and completed work.


• Escalate complex infrastructure, network, server, security, or application issues to the appropriate IT team member when necessary.


• Ensure company technology and security standards are followed across assigned locations.


• Build strong working relationships with dealership management and employees while providing professional, responsive customer service.


• Take ownership of assigned issues and follow them through to resolution.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in IT support, desktop support, field services, or a similar technical role.


• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and common business applications.


• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and cloud-based business environments.


• Experience troubleshooting PCs, printers, networking, Wi-Fi, and peripheral devices.


• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, switches, and wireless networking.


• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and determine when escalation is appropriate.


• Strong communication and customer service skills.


• Ability to prioritize multiple requests and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


• Comfortable working independently at remote dealership locations while collaborating with the larger IT team.


• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel between assigned locations.


• Ability to occasionally travel outside the primary region and stay overnight when business needs require.

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is helpful, but not required:

• Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune, or endpoint management tools.


• VoIP or business phone systems.


• Network switches, wireless access points, and basic network infrastructure.


• Dealer Management Systems (DMS) or other dealership technology platforms.
