The Regional Manager EH&S ensures that comprehensive systems are in place to effectively and cost efficiently ensure assigned Avient facilities are in compliance with applicable regulations and consensus standards related to the environment, worker safety & health, and security. The position serves as an expert environmental, safety, and health (EH&S) resource for coaching and assisting facility level EH&S personnel as well as business unit management, plant managers, and Avient leadership.
Ensure continuous EHS improvement, risk reduction, and associate engagement at assigned Avient facilities.
Oversee environmental, safety, health, and security activities at respective sites through coaching, mentoring, training, and assisting facility EH&S managers, plant management, and business unit management.
Assist, monitor, and communicate facility progress on EHS Roadmap and towards achieving annual objectives.
Execute appropriate strategies designed to identify potential risk, evaluate consequences and provide solutions to adequately address facility needs.
Oversee incident investigation, reporting, follow-up, and implementation of preventive actions utilizing root cause analyses mapping tool.
Ensure governmental environmental, health, and safety permitting and reporting requirements are met at each assigned facility and supporting documentation is maintained.
Liaise and coordinate regional activities associated with management systems such as Responsible Care and EHS information technology platforms.
Oversee third party risk consultant and property insurance programs for respective sites.
Review and approve capital projects for respective sites.
Conduct environmental, safety, health, security and hygiene audits of respective sites for compliance with standards, laws, regulations, and other related practices and procedures.
Participate in development and maintenance of corporate environmental, safety, health, and security standards to ensure the intent of the corporate policies is met and regional needs are addressed. Standards establish minimum acceptable performance requirements.
Interface with governmental authorities for the discussion of adverse events, general questions or any related issues.
Assist with development, review, and maintenance of EH&S training programs to ensure compliance with applicable internal and external requirements.
Work with internal and external legal counsel when required.
Other activities when necessary or assigned.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field required or commensurate with experience.
Experience
10+ years of progressive EH&S experience within manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or process industries.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing EH&S programs and/or personnel.
Able to read and evaluate impact of existing and proposed government regulations on specific facilities, business enterprises, acquisitions, and corporate initiatives.
In depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety management systems which ensure continuous improvement and ongoing compliance.
Ability to develop and maintain 3rd party certified environmental, health, and safety management systems.
In depth knowledge of managing environmental, health, and safety incidents (chemical releases, fire, natural disasters, work related injuries, illnesses, etc.).
Ability to successfully negotiate with regulators and other external stakeholders.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
ISO 14001 or Responsible Care® experience
Physical Demands
Will require periods of domestic and international travel.
Must be able to navigate in an industrial environment. For example, climb stairs/ladders, move through cramped environments, and tolerate hot/cold conditions.
