Regional Sales Manager Hardwood Flooring - Midwest

Job Description - Regional Sales Manager Hardwood Flooring - Midwest

Regional Sales Manager – Hardwood Flooring | Midwest

Location: Greater St. Louis, MO or Greater Milwaukee, WI preferred; Illinois considered

Territory: Midwest

The Opportunity

A well-established flooring manufacturer is seeking an experienced Regional Sales Manager to manage and grow an established, multi-state Midwest territory.

This is an excellent opportunity for a flooring sales professional who enjoys being in the field, developing distributor relationships, training sales teams, and driving execution at the dealer level. The territory already represents a meaningful book of business, so this is not a ground-up business development position. The focus is on strengthening existing partnerships, increasing market penetration, and helping distributor sales teams win more business.

The company is entering an important period of growth and is looking for someone who can step into the territory and make an immediate impact.

Territory

The territory includes key markets throughout:

Missouri

Illinois

Wisconsin

Iowa

Indiana

Ohio

Kentucky

Candidates located in Missouri or Wisconsin are strongly preferred, with Illinois also considered. Proximity to a major airport is helpful for efficiently covering the territory.

What You'll Do

You will work closely with established flooring distributors and their field sales organizations to expand the company's hardwood flooring business throughout the Midwest.

A significant portion of your time will be spent traveling alongside distributor sales representatives, calling on flooring dealers and customers, conducting product knowledge training, and identifying opportunities for additional product and display placements.

You'll also serve as a strategic partner to distributor leadership. This includes working with product managers and sales managers to establish goals, develop account plans, monitor performance, and ensure field activities align with broader growth objectives.

Typical activities include working in the field with distributor representatives 1–2 times per week, making approximately 3–5 customer calls during field days, conducting product training, managing display-placement initiatives, and maintaining consistent activity throughout the territory.

Strong performers will typically generate 30+ quality field sales calls per month while building productive relationships throughout the distributor network.

What They're Looking For

The ideal candidate brings:

Approximately 3–5+ years of flooring industry sales experience

Strong knowledge of hardwood flooring or related hard-surface flooring products

Experience working with distributors, dealers, or independent flooring retailers

Ability to train and motivate distributor sales representatives

Strong relationship-management and communication skills

Business acumen to work effectively with distributor sales managers, product managers, and other leadership

Experience establishing account goals, expectations, and performance plans

Ability to independently manage a large geographic territory

Willingness to travel approximately 50–75%, with field activity typically four days per week

A self-directed, organized approach and the ability to become productive quickly

This position is particularly well suited for someone who combines strong field-sales instincts with the maturity to manage higher-level distributor relationships. The successful candidate will be more than a road warrior—they will be capable of helping distributor leadership establish priorities and translating those priorities into consistent field execution.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary plus annual performance-based bonus potential. The position also includes a monthly vehicle allowance, company-paid fuel and business travel expenses, cell phone reimbursement, and a comprehensive benefits package.

The company also provides:

$600 monthly vehicle allowance

Company-paid fuel for business travel

Company credit card

Business travel expenses

Flights and rental vehicles as required

Business meals and customer entertainment expenses

Cell phone reimbursement up to approximately $100 per month

W-2 employment and company benefits

Performance incentives are designed around factors the Regional Sales Manager can directly influence, including field sales activity, distributor engagement, product training, and display-placement objectives.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to inherit an established, revenue-producing territory rather than spend years building a market from scratch.

You'll have access to an extensive distributor sales network and established customer relationships while still having significant opportunity to improve territory performance. The role provides considerable autonomy, consistent field interaction, and direct influence over how the company's products are represented throughout the Midwest.

For a flooring professional who enjoys building relationships, developing sales teams, traveling the market, and taking ownership of a significant territory, this role offers an attractive combination of stability, autonomy, strong base compensation, and growth opportunity.
