Registered Behavior Technician

Responsibilities and Duties: Working under the supervision of the Behavior Analyst (BCBA, LBA), the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct, one-on-one behavioral intervention services to clients. The RBT is responsible for the systematic implementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This hands-on role is essential to helping clients achieve their personalized treatment goals and dramatically improve their quality of life.

Specific duties include:

1. Direct Behavior Intervention:
2. Systematically implements individualized behavior intervention plans and skill acquisition programs as designed by the supervising Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA); 
3. Provides direct client care in one-on-one and potentially group settings (e.g., in client homes, community, school, or clinic settings);
4. Utilizes and fades prompting procedures effectively to encourage successful, independent client response;
5. Implements reinforcement and other consequence procedures to increase appropriate behaviors and reduce problematic behaviors;
6. Data Collection and Documentation:
7. Accurately and reliably collects and records data on target behaviors and program goals during all sessions;
8. Maintains organized and professional daily documentation, including session notes, progress updates, and data sheets, in compliance with ethical and company standards;
9. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
10. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, funding regulations, court mandates, and accreditation standards;
11. Develops and implements program policies, procedures, and documentation protocols;
12. Maintains confidentiality and data integrity in line with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other privacy laws;
13. Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation of evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and billing records in compliance with state regulations, third-party payor requirements (e.g., Medicaid and Waiver programs like ECF CHOICES, DDA), and MillarRich policies;
14. Adheres to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board RBT Ethics Code and MillarRich policies and procedures;
15. Always ensures the safety and well-being of the client and self, including the appropriate use of safety-care or de-escalation techniques, as needed, following training; 
16. Prepares and organizes necessary teaching materials for each session;
17. Collaboration and Consultation:
18. Maintains professional and positive rapport with the client, caregivers, and all treatment team members;
19. Communicates effectively and professionally with caregivers and parents regarding the client's progress, session activities, and any observed issues, under the direction of the BCBA;
20. Immediately reports all critical incidents, unusual occurrences, or significant changes in client behavior to the supervising BCBA;
21. Actively participates in supervision meetings, team meetings, and required training workshops;
22. Other duties may be assigned as circumstances warrant.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required. 
2. Current certification as a?Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board,?or?willingness and ability to complete RBT training and competency assessment immediately upon hire.
3. Current CPR certification.
4. Must maintain all required licenses and certifications in good standing throughout employment.
5. Prior experience working with children or adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder is preferred. 
6. Experience in a non-traditional setting (e.g., in-home, community) is highly desirable.
7. Strong clinical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a non-clinical audience (e.g., families, support staff).
9. High level of proficiency in computer use, including electronic health records systems, documentation, and standard office software.
10. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a caseload while effectively prioritizing responsibilities.

12. The ability to travel within the service region to conduct in-home and community-based sessions.
13. In-depth knowledge of person served care models, and evidence-based practices.
