Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (RN-ER)

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, managing patients with diverse medical issues and injuries.
• Start IVs and perform essential nursing skills required for emergency care.
• Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals, including NPs and patient care coordinators.
• Ensure effective communication with patients and their families regarding care plans and treatment options.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in the state of North Dakota.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ENPC (PALS preferred).
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in emergency nursing with a focus on trauma, STEMI, and stroke care.
• Excellent time management, empathy, and professionalism.

Work Environment:

• Level 5 Trauma Center with 4 beds and 2 trauma bays.
• Average daily patient volume of 6-15.
• No dedicated triage area; all patients are treated within the ER.
• Limited use of advanced respiratory equipment; CRNA assistance available as needed.

Scheduling:

• Self-scheduling with guidelines.
• Weekend Requirement: 2 out of 6 weekends.
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday.
• Floating Requirement: Occasional floating to Acute (Med/Surg).

Additional Information:

• No dedicated respiratory therapy in the ER; RNs will not perform ABGs or EKGs.
• Lab draws are typically performed by phlebotomy unless IV access is utilized.
• Dress code: Any clean and appropriately fitting scrubs.
