Job Description Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER - FT Job Function: Nursing Department: Emergency Department Employment Type: Full Time Shift: Nights Shift: 6:45PM- 7:15AM (4- 10hr shifts)

Requirements



Minimum of one year recent acute care Registered Nurse experience required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.  Must have and maintain current BLS card, required.  ACLS and PALS, is REQUIRED of all experienced Emergency department nurses upon hire start date (experienced in ED within last 2 years). If new hire is a transfer into the emergency department or has no prior emergency department experience (within the last 2 years), BLS card must be current prior to starting/transferring to the emergency department and ACLS and PALS will be required within 6 months of hire/transfer start date.  MICN certification is required within 1 year of starting employment/transfer or prior to being assigned as Charge RN or Resource RN. If the new RN is a recent graduate from nursing school/novice nurse, they will be required have BLS card prior to hire/start date and to obtain ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire/start date. Must have and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or obtain within one (1) year of assignment to department. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.  The R.N must have and maintain current BLS, ACLS and PALS, as referenced in education/training/experience section.  MICN certification is required as defined above in Education/Training/Experience section. Must have and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or obtain within one (1) year of assignment to department.   Under the general direction of the Unit Director, Clinical Manager and Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (R.N.) independently provides holistic, individualized care using the Nursing Process for patients routinely seen on the unit.  Demonstrates an advanced level of clinical competency, Nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care.  Independently performs general and unit-specific clinical skills.  The R.N. contributes to the Department of Patient Care Services and the Nursing profession in a positive manner.   The R.N. is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and nursing care delivery appropriate to the ages of the patients served.  Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs.  Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.   Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours which may include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call in the Director's absence. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours.   Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization’s standards/code of conduct.   The employee must work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines; and the incumbent shall at all times demonstrate a cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors from all departments of the facility and government agency employees.
