Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel Nurse)

Location: Onsite – 13-Week Travel Assignment

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Oncology to join our team for a 13-week travel contract. The ideal candidate will provide clinical support to the oncology service line, ensuring exceptional care for patients undergoing cancer treatments. Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $65/hour
• Start Date: 010/30/2024

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including obtaining vital signs and reviewing lab results.
• Verify treatment orders and medications, collaborating with other RNs or pharmacy staff.
• Monitor and manage infusion-related reactions, addressing any side effects while educating patients on self-care during treatment.
• Provide patient-specific education, including regimen treatment plans and schedules.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are addressed, and any concerns are communicated to the provider.
• Review treatment history and recent provider notes to confirm appropriate regimens and labs are in place before treatment.

Schedule:

• Shift: Day shifts, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift.

Required Experience:

• Education: Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: Valid NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, with a focus on med-surg nursing.
• Certifications: Must be proficient in administering chemotherapy and managing oncology patients.

Preferred Skills:

• IV Start Competence: Experience in starting IVs and accessing IVADs.
• Experience in outpatient clinic settings is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., using a computer keyboard).
• May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including equipment, and stooping or kneeling for various tasks.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
• Must be able to physically operate equipment required for the role.
