Job Description - Registered Nurse - Palliative Care



Local Hourly Rate: $60/hr


Travel Pay Package:


Weekly Gross: $2,378


Weekly Stipend: $1,477


Taxable Hourly: $25.02


 


Dates: ASAP start (13 weeks)


Hours: D/N rotating; 36 hours/week


Requirements: 2+ years of RN Palliative Care/Pain Management experience required. Active OH or compact license.


 



The Palliative Care Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing compassionate care to adult and geriatric patients and their families. You will direct and supervise nursing care within the interdisciplinary team. The role focuses heavily on assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to maximize patient comfort, dignity, and quality of life.


 


Key Responsibilities




  • Symptom Management: Provide expert care for pain, nausea, fatigue, and other distressing symptoms associated with serious, life-limiting illnesses.

  • Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and families about palliative care services, focusing on realistic goals and symptom management.

  • Care Planning: Participate in advance care planning discussions and complete required documentation (advance directives).

  • Team Leadership: Direct, supervise, and delegate nursing care responsibilities to other members of the patient care team.

  • Resource Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, social workers, spiritual care, and floor nursing staff to ensure seamless implementation of care recommendations.

  • Quality & Safety: Actively participate in the professional practice model to improve patient experience, safety, and cost-effective outcomes.
