Our 60-bed Medical Surgical unit spans two floors, where our team delivers high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process in alignment with established scope and standards of practice. This role reports directly to the Department Director, also works collaboratively with physicians and fellow nursing professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. Teamwork is at the heart of our culture, and nurses support one another through open communication, shared accountability, and a commitment to providing safe, compassionate care. How you'll contribute

A Medical Surgical RN who excels in this role:

  • Performs duties as assigned and requested. 
  • Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient’s condition, procedures, medications, and treatments. 
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. 
  • Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors. 
  • Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills. 
  • Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope. 
  • Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors. 
  • Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly. 
  • Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations. 
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. 
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. 
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state or compact state RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NRP, Handle with Care, preferred within one year of hire.
  • Experience: One-year previous experience preferred
  • Licenses: Must have a current state or compact state RN license.
  • Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
