Job Description - Registered Nurse, RN NICU III, Hawaii

Registered Nurse, RN NICU III

Level III NICU

Neonatal intensive care unit.

Registered nurse provides critical care to premature and sick newborns. In addition to providing around-the-clock care to these patients, NICU RNs offer support to parents. Parental support can range from emotional encouragement to advising parents on how to take care of an infant when discharged. NICU RNs work as a team member with other nurse practitioners and physicians. Their prime responsibility is to ensure that a newborn's critical care treatment is secure.

Job Duties

NICU RNs perform life-sustaining care. Utilizes nursing process to deliver care. Performs any nursing task requiring nursing knowledge, judgment, and skill. Functions as primary nurse/total patient caregiver. Serves as resource nurse and acts as preceptor.Duties include administering medications, monitoring vital signs and providing vital nutrients to newborns. NICU RNs must ensure that infants are breathing and maturing properly. Work with members of the interdisciplinary team to assist in treatment plans and examinations. Teaches LPNs and nursing assistive personnel special tasks of nursing care. Keep, maintain and update records of the patient's care. In addition to medical care, NICU RNs communicate with and educate parents on day-to-day operations as well as home-care procedures.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Requirements

1 year NICU experience required

Current NRP
Current BLS

Passed NCLEX

Current Hawaii RN license (or eligible for)

Current VisaScreen or VisaScreen in process (Unless American candidate).
