In-patient pediatric unit with integrated PICU

Registered nurse provides critical care to chldren. In addition to providing around-the-clock care to these patients, PICU RNs offer support to parents. Parental support can range from emotional encouragement to advising parents on how to take care of their child when discharged. PICU RNs work as a team member with other nurse practitioners and physicians. Their prime responsibility is to ensure that child's critical care treatment is secure.

Job Duties

PICU RNs perform life-sustaining care. Utilizes nursing process to deliver care. Performs any nursing task requiring nursing knowledge, judgment, and skill. Functions as primary nurse/total patient caregiver. Serves as resource nurse and acts as preceptor.Duties include administering medications, monitoring vital signs and providing vital nutrients to children. PICU RNs must work with members of the interdisciplinary team to assist in treatment plans and examinations. Teach LPNs and nursing assistive personnel special tasks of nursing care. Keep, maintain and update records of the patient's care. In addition to medical care, PICU RNs communicate with and educate parents on day-to-day operations as well as home-care procedures.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Requirements

Competency in care of high acuity PICU patients of all ages. Respiratory care such as ventilator management and high flow oxygen. IV fluid management such as drips, titration of medications. Cardiac monitoring. etc.

1 year PICU experience required

Current PALS
Current BLS

Passed NCLEX

Current Hawaii RN license (or eligible for)

Current VisaScreen or VisaScreen in process (Unless American candidate).
