Start Your Behavioral Health Nursing Career at Glens Falls Hospital
As a new graduate nurse in our Psychiatric Specialty Track (Psych 101), you'll participate in Glens Falls Hospital's Nurse Residency Program with a Magnet-recognized organization committed to nursing excellence and professional development. Designed to support the transition from nursing school to professional practice, Psych 101 combines a progressive clinical orientation, specialty behavioral health education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ongoing mentorship throughout your first year. Working alongside experienced preceptors, you'll gain experience in both the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) and Crisis Services Unit (CSU), caring for adult and child/adolescent patient populations while developing the therapeutic communication, critical thinking, and compassion essential to behavioral health nursing. Through interdisciplinary shadowing experiences and specialty education—including psychopharmacology, de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed care, gender and sexuality, and other behavioral health topics—you'll build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed as a behavioral health nurse.
What to Expect
Gain hands-on experience caring for adult and child/adolescent patient populations across inpatient behavioral health and crisis care settings
Participate in interdisciplinary shadowing experiences with Behavioral Health Technicians, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Social Workers, and other members of the behavioral healthcare team
Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $38.00 to $43.00 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
