Job Title: Registration Clerk (PRN)
Department: Patient Registration / Front Desk
Reports To: Patient Access Manager / Registration
Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours
SUMMARY
Provides front-office and
patient registration support on an as-needed (PRN) basis, covering peak
volumes, staff absences, and special coverage needs. Responsible for greeting
patients, verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling
appointments, and processing registration paperwork with accuracy, courtesy,
and confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
Greets patients and visitors in
a courteous, professional manner upon arrival.
Verifies and updates patient
demographic, insurance, and eligibility information at each visit.
Collects co-pays, self-pay fees,
and outstanding balances; issues receipts and balances cash drawer as assigned.
Schedules, reschedules, and
confirms patient appointments across applicable departments.
Scans, files, and maintains
patient identification, insurance cards, and registration documents in the EHR.
Answers multi-line telephone
system, routes calls appropriately, and takes accurate messages.
Verifies insurance eligibility
and benefits via phone or online payer portals.
Assists with patient check-in
and check-out processes, minimizing wait times.
Maintains strict confidentiality
of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Maintains a clean, organized,
and welcoming reception and waiting area.
Communicates with clinical staff
regarding patient arrivals, delays, or special needs.
Performs other clerical and
administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED
required.
One (1) year of experience in
medical office registration, customer service, or a related front-office role
preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret
documents such as insurance cards, safety rules, and simple instructions.
Ability to write routine correspondence and registration notes. Ability to
communicate effectively and courteously with patients, staff, and providers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract,
multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to accurately collect
payments, make change, and balance a cash drawer.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense
understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
form. Ability to handle multiple tasks and interruptions in a fast-paced
front-office environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly
required to sit, talk, and hear, and frequently required to use hands to
operate a computer and telephone. The employee is occasionally required to
stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the
ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical clinical
office/front-desk environment. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate. As a PRN position, the work schedule varies based on
department need and may include evenings, weekends, or short-notice coverage.
