Regulatory Compliance Specialist I – Raw Material
Location: Northbrook, IL
Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in supporting regulatory compliance in the food, flavor, fragrance, botanical, and regulated ingredient industries? Bell is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist I – Raw Materials to support raw material compliance by reviewing supplier documentation, maintaining accurate regulatory data, and providing timely support to internal teams and suppliers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with technical information, collaborating across departments, and helping ensure regulatory accuracy and data integrity.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Review supplier documentation and support updates to raw material regulatory information in internal systems.
Assist with raw material compliance assessments by gathering, reviewing, and organizing regulatory data for internal decision-making.
Support raw material compliance with applicable U.S., Canadian, LATAM, Brazilian, and other regional requirements, including labeling, allergen, and related documentation needs.
Maintain working knowledge of key regulations and industry standards relevant to the role, including IFRA, GHS, Proposition 65, TSCA, REACH, and EU fragrance requirements.
Communicate with suppliers to obtain or clarify raw material compliance documentation.
Provide regulatory support to internal teams by sharing accurate compliance information and identifying questions that require escalation.
Maintain and improve regulatory data quality in internal systems used for raw material compliance tracking and reporting.
Assist with internal training materials and process improvements that strengthen regulatory awareness and data quality.
Provide backup support to colleagues within the Raw Material Regulatory team as needed.
Contribute to broader regulatory initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, regulatory affairs, raw material documentation, or a related field.
Experience in food, flavor, fragrance, botanical, or other regulated ingredient industries preferred.
Familiarity with industry terminology and documentation requirements such as GMP, Kosher, Halal, NOP, allergens, labeling, TTB, IFRA, REACH, CAS numbers, Proposition 65, and FDA 21 CFR Part 484 preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to review documentation, identify discrepancies, and support routine regulatory assessments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Working knowledge of flavor and fragrance chemistry and applicable regulatory concepts preferred.
Ability to learn and apply regulatory requirements relevant to raw materials and ingredient documentation.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently with appropriate guidance.
Experience participating in professional meetings or cross-functional discussions is a plus.
