Position Overview 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day accounting for our nonprofit clients. Reporting to the Director of Bookkeeping, this role handles transaction recording, reconciliations, and accounts payable/receivable to keep client books accurate and on schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable juggling multiple clients, and takes pride in clean, reliable books. This is a hands-on role well suited to someone building their bookkeeping career who enjoys steady, detail-focused work. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Day-to-Day Bookkeeping: Record transactions, code expenses, and maintain accurate general ledgers for assigned nonprofit clients. 

• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor bills, prepare invoices, record deposits, and follow up on outstanding balances. 

• Reconciliations: Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly. 

• Month-End Close: Support month-end close tasks, journal entries, and supporting schedules across assigned client engagements. 

• Nonprofit Accounting Support: Track restricted funds and grant activity accurately; assist with audit and tax preparation as needed. 

• Team & Client Support: Collaborate with the Director of Bookkeeping and Finance team to keep work consistent across engagements, and respond to routine client accounting questions. 

• Recordkeeping: Maintain organized financial records, follow documented procedures, and flag opportunities to improve processes. 

• 1–3 years of relevant bookkeeping or transactional accounting experience; experience in a small business, office management, or professional services setting is welcome. 

• Experience managing books for multiple entities or clients at the same time a plus. 

• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting (restricted funds, grants) and basic GAAP principles a plus. 

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel; experience with Sage Intacct a plus; QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification a plus. 

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with comfort managing deadlines in a fully remote environment. 

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus, but relevant experience is what matters most. 

• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
