Job Overview:
S2Tech is seeking a Data Analyst / Business Analyst with 5-10 years of experience to support an Illinois HFS engagement. The role combines data analysis, business analysis, and training development. The analyst will review current business processes, document them with process flows, and identify areas for improvement. The analyst will also build reports and dashboards, work with IT development teams on requirements and testing, and create PowerPoint training modules that teach the business processes to staff. The analyst works with state business units and client team members and is expected to be a team player.
Responsibilities:
Process Analysis and Improvement: Understand current business processes, build process flows, and identify and define areas for improvement. Evaluate new processes based on data analysis
Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, ensuring they are clearly understood and communicated. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
Analysis and Documentation: Create business requirements, functional specifications, and process maps. Coordinate with business units to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
Data Analysis and Reporting: Acquire data from primary and secondary sources, organize and analyze it, and identify trends and patterns in complex data sets. Build and maintain reports and dashboards in Power BI and other reporting tools, and present findings so that non-technical audiences can understand them
Data Quality: Review data from existing data sets to identify areas of concern, and to filter and clean data and to locate and correct problems
IT Development Support: Work with IT and business teams following established IT development practices to design and implement solutions that meet business needs. Determine solutions for technical problems
Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test plans to ensure IT solutions meet business requirements. Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and address any issues that arise
Training Development: Build training modules in PowerPoint that teach the business processes, along with supporting job aids and materials as needed. Keep training content current as processes change
Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate meetings, presentations, and workshops with business and IT stakeholders. Explain complex ideas verbally and in writing in a way that common viewers can understand
Collaboration and Work Management: Use SharePoint, SharePoint Lists, and Teams to organize and track work. Organize and manage complex work efforts and contribute to the team
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and best practices. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
5-10 years of combined experience as a Data Analyst and as a Business Analyst
Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting tools such as Business Objects and SQL
Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI and the ability to present findings
Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Technical expertise with data models, database design and development, and data mining techniques
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate large amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to filter and clean data and to locate and correct code problems
Experience building training modules in PowerPoint for business processes
Proficiency with SharePoint, SharePoint Lists, and Teams
Practical experience with the Microsoft tools suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a State Government office with Health and Human Services data is preferred
Proven experience as both a Data Analyst and a Business Analyst, including requirements gathering
Ability to understand current business processes, build process flows, and identify areas of improvement
Experience with IT development practices, including software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent certification is a plus
Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification is a plus
