Donor Development Specialist (Remote, EST Hours) | Remote · $60,000–$70,000/year + potential bonus

About the Role
A growing nonprofit organization is seeking a full-time Donor Development Specialist to build meaningful, long-term relationships with donors who've experienced the organization's programs firsthand. Many donors first connect through a meal, a program, emergency assistance, or simply finding a welcoming community when they needed one. This role is about turning those moments into lasting relationships through personal outreach, stewardship, and steady donor growth.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Outreach & Stewardship

• Personally engage donors through phone, email, text, and other one-to-one outreach


• Thank donors and learn about their personal experience with the organization


• Understand each donor's connection, interests, and relationship history


• Share stories and updates that show the real impact of the organization's work


• Maintain consistent follow-up so donors stay personally connected

Fundraising & Growth

• Identify opportunities to increase donor giving, including recurring gifts and higher annual support


• Identify donors with potential for deeper or major-gift relationships


• Manage an assigned donor portfolio and work toward defined engagement and fundraising goals

Systems & Tracking

• Maintain accurate donor information, activities, notes, and follow-up tasks in Salesforce

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of fundraising, sales, business development, account management, or other relationship-focused experience


• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills


• Ability to listen, ask good questions, and build genuine relationships


• Confidence making consistent outbound calls and initiating conversations


• Comfort discussing giving and asking donors to increase their support when appropriate


• Strong follow-up and organizational skills


• Attention to detail and comfort using Salesforce or another CRM


• Positive, proactive, and results-oriented approach


• Available to work EST hours
