WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Our K-12 group is dedicated to dramatically improving learning and life outcomes for all children. We believe that great public schools and high-quality education have the potential to be life-changing, especially for students in underserved communities. We partner with leaders in government, philanthropy, and other education organizations and draw on our experience in the education space to solve complex problems facing public schools and communities. We deliver customized services and products - including data, finance, and instructional tools - from initial design through the last step of execution.

Directors play important roles on our projects: leading the planning, execution and delivery of a diverse array of projects from start to finish. Directors are senior leaders on the team who are trusted advisors and partners to our clients. A portion of their time is also dedicated to generating new business for the K-12 team.

In this role, you will:

Lead Business Development Efforts

  • Actively pursue new business opportunities through various sales channels to grow client impact.

  • Represent the organization as a thought leader in the education space, which could include speaking at industry events, contributing to publications, and engaging in public discourse.

Oversee Client Engagements

  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of a diverse array of projects in dynamic environments.

  • Serve as senior leader and primary client point of contact, building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for deeper partnerships.

  • Incorporate input from multiple stakeholders to mobilize groups toward common and ambitious goals.

  • Work effectively with multiple groups of partners to deliver high-quality products.

Ensure Successful Project Execution

  • Self-motivate and demonstrate capacity to prioritize, ensuring time is spent on highest leverage actions.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to generate meaningful insights.

  • Communicate efficiently: break down large and complex analyses into actionable recommendations while retaining the ability to drill deeper as needed.

  • Manage Project Managers and Consultants: lead their contributions to projects and ensure they develop new skills and professional capacities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Experience in sales and business development with a focus on education projects.

  • A track record of identifying and pursuing new client opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic background.

  • Ten (10) or more years of consulting experience or equivalent education/public-sector experience.

  • Previous U.S. school district/K–12 leadership or consulting experience required.

  • Five (5) or more years of management experience.

  • Commitment to our organizational mission and fostering a culture of inclusion in the workplace.

  • A proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness.

  • Capacity for managing and leading people; ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower top notch leaders from the bottom up, cultivate entrepreneurship, and learn the strengths and weaknesses of the team so as to put people in a position to succeed.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience working and building relationships with clients and with external stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task on multiple projects.

  • An ability to navigate ambiguity comfortably and meet frequent deadlines.

  • A sense of humor and ability to work in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to travel depending on client needs.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Our world-class work environment includes flexible and remote work options, a commitment to equity, and nationally respected teams in management consulting and technology services. We also offer opportunities to make a profound social impact through innovative projects, alongside professional development opportunities for career growth.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including:

  • Flexible paid time off

  • 5% 401K matching program

  • Equity opportunities

  • Incentive and bonus programs

  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave

  • Flexible spending accounts

  • Full health benefits with base employee coverage fully funded, including:
