Mechanical Engineer (CFD)

Konik is partnering with a client within the energy industry that is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer (FEA) to their growing team. The role focuses on the design and analysis of components for extreme conditions, utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

Mechanical Engineer (CFD) Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate components using AutoDesk Inventor, ensuring they meet performance requirements for severe-duty applications.
• Develop and utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to assess component stress under both steady-state and fluctuating temperature and pressure conditions.
• Manage and coordinate CFD analyses and physical flow modeling efforts with external firms, with a focus on building internal CFD capabilities.
• Conduct lifecycle analyses to predict and assess potential component failures due to low-cycle fatigue, high-cycle fatigue, creep, or thermal shock.
• Prepare comprehensive documentation of analysis results for both customer presentations and internal reviews.
• Communicate engineering best practices and guidelines to the engineering and design drafting teams.
• Engage in product and project design reviews to ensure robust and reliable component performance.

Mechanical Engineer (CFD) Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on the core competencies mentioned above.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in engineering design and analysis.
• Hands-on experience with CAD software, with a preference for AutoDesk Inventor.
• Demonstrated experience in FEA and CFD.
• Expertise in mechanics of materials, including welding, metallurgy, failure analysis, fracture mechanics, fatigue, and creep.
• Proficiency in the Finite Element Method (FEM).
• Strong understanding of Fluid Mechanics.
• Knowledgeable of Thermodynamics.
• Experience with Heat Transfer principles.
