Job Summary: The Military & Military Spouse Career Navigator will support our organization’s mission by providing direct, individualized employment support to transitioning service members, military spouses, and dependents. This role addresses the unique career challenges faced by active-duty families, including frequent relocations, deployment cycles, and maintaining career continuity across duty stations. The Navigator is responsible for guiding clients through career exploration, job readiness preparation, and employment placement while connecting them to relevant training, resources, and support services. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of military culture, empathetic, and passionate about helping veterans and their families succeed in the civilian workforce.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Conduct intake assessments to identify barriers, strengths, and career interests.
· Translate military experience and military family experience into civilian workforce skills.
· Develop Individual Employment Plans (IEPs) aligned with each participant’s goals and available resources.
· Partner with employers familiar with military spouse employment challenges and remote work flexibility, training providers, and community organizations to identify job opportunities, apprenticeships, and vocational training aligned with military skill sets.
· Host and participate in job fairs, hiring events, and career workshops tailored for the military population.
· Maintain regular contact with participants and employers to ensure job retention and career growth.
· Document all interactions and progress in case management or workforce tracking systems.
· Stay current on veterans’ benefits, GI Bill, employment rights, and supportive resources to ensure comprehensive support.
· Collaborate with Veterans Affairs (VA), Transition Assistance Programs (TAP), Military OneSource, and other military transition programs.
· Collaborate with Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), MyCAA (Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts) program administrators, Military Family Readiness Groups, Base Family Support Centers and Spouse Clubs, and installation family programs
· Develop portable career strategies that accommodate PCS moves and deployment cycles
· Assist with professional licensing and certification transfers across state lines
· Connect spouses to remote work opportunities and entrepreneurship resources
· Provide career coaching that addresses deployment-related employment gaps
· Support spouses in leveraging Military Spouse Preference programs and spouse hiring initiatives

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Workforce Development, or a related field OR equivalent experience in workforce or veteran services.
· Experience working with military spouses, transitioning service members, or veterans, with preference given to candidates with military spouse employment or family support experience.
· Experience with case management, workforce development, or job placement preferred.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required):
· Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP)
· Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF)
· Veterans at Work Certificate (SHRM Foundation)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Familiarity with military culture, ranks, and MOS codes.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and tasks.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using case management or CRM software.
· Familiarity with employment resources, veteran benefits, and wraparound services.
· Understanding of PCS cycles and their impact on career continuity.
· Familiarity of licensing reciprocity and professional certification transfers.
· Knowledge of Military Spouse Preference Hiring Authorities
· Understanding of deployment cycle impacts on employment and childcare
· Awareness of military spouse unemployment statistics and barriers
