We are hiring a Technical Designer to serve as the production backbone of our Design team—translating high-level design intent into precise, manufacturable shop drawings for luxury hospitality environments.
This role sits at the intersection of design, engineering, and production. You will take ownership of the full technical design lifecycle—from initial shop drawings through factory coordination and final production approvals—ensuring every detail is accurate, buildable, and aligned with client expectations.
You will work closely with internal teams and overseas manufacturing partners to deliver high-quality, design-forward furniture and millwork solutions across a portfolio of hospitality projects.
What You’ll Own
1. Shop Drawings & Technical Development
Produce detailed shop drawings using SolidWorks, including:
Accurate dimensions, joinery, and section details
Material build-ups and specifications
Clear, professional drawing layouts and callouts
Develop 3D models and renderings (KeyShot / Visualize) for internal and client presentations
Translate client specification packages into production-ready documentation
Balance design intent, ergonomics, and manufacturability
Iterate through drawing versions (V1 → approval) based on internal and client feedback
Proactively identify risks and gaps via RFIs and technical notes
2. Factory Coordination & Production Support
Act as the primary liaison with overseas manufacturing partners via Microsoft Teams
Issue approved drawing packages (DWGs, specs, materials) for production
Review and approve factory drawings to ensure full alignment with approved designs
Resolve production questions and issues in real time
Review pre-production samples (PP) and production photos for:
Quality
Accuracy
Finish and material compliance
Escalate risks or deviations with clear recommendations
3. Change Management & Documentation
Maintain 100% accuracy of the Material Matrix across all project updates
Track all revisions via Change Logs and communicate updates to cross-functional teams
Organize and maintain clean, up-to-date project documentation in Google Drive
Update task progress daily in Monday.com to ensure visibility and workflow accuracy
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Design Managers, Project Managers, and production teams to drive execution
Participate in:
Weekly design reviews
Internal project working sessions
Monthly knowledge-sharing sessions
Communicate clearly and proactively across Slack, Teams, and project management tools
Guide stakeholders toward feasible, buildable solutions when constraints arise
Day-to-Day Rhythm
Review and respond to factory communications (priority)
Execute CAD work: shop drawings, revisions, and renderings
Review factory drawings and production updates
Manage task updates and redlines in Monday.com
Collaborate with internal teams via Slack and Teams

Adobe Acrobat (markups and redlines)

What We’re Looking For
Core Requirements
3+ years experience creating manufacturing-ready shop drawings in SolidWorks
Strong understanding of furniture construction:
Casegoods, seating, upholstery, millwork
(Bonus: lighting, mirrors, accessories)
Ability to interpret and build from client specification packages
Strong 3D visualization and spatial reasoning
Experience managing multiple projects with shifting priorities
Clear and professional communication skills
Preferred Experience
Background in luxury hospitality or commercial furniture design
Exposure to overseas manufacturing workflows (China or similar)
Familiarity with production cycles, materials, and finishes

Owns high-priority projects and key client deliverables
Mentors junior designers and contributes to process improvements
