Job Description - Workers Compensation Medical Bill Review Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Medical Bill Review Specialist to join their California team on a temporary basis. This position will support the review and processing of workers’ compensation medical bills, ensuring charges are accurately evaluated and processed according to applicable guidelines. The ideal candidate will have prior workers’ compensation medical bill review experience and a strong understanding of medical coding, billing practices, and state-specific reimbursement requirements.

Responsibilities:

Review workers’ compensation medical bills for accuracy and appropriate reimbursement

Evaluate medical charges using applicable state fee schedules and billing guidelines

Review procedure and diagnosis codes to ensure accurate processing

Identify billing discrepancies, coding issues, and charges requiring additional review

Process bills and related documentation within established turnaround times

Maintain accurate claim and billing information within internal systems

Communicate with internal teams and medical providers regarding billing questions or discrepancies

Ensure medical bills are processed in accordance with workers’ compensation requirements and internal procedures

Qualifications:

2-4+ years experience with Workers’ Compensation medical bill review

Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding

Experience interpreting Workers’ Compensation fee schedules

Understanding of medical billing and reimbursement practices

Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation claims and regulatory guidelines

Comfortable learning and navigating claims and bill review software

Strong attention to detail and ability to identify billing discrepancies

Ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines

Pay & Benefits:

$25.00/hr to $35.00/hr
