Quick Apply Snapshot

  • No CNA or medical experience required
  • Customer service, hospitality, or human services backgrounds encouraged
  • Build meaningful (and appropriate) connections with guests
  • Full benefits + paid training
  • Great entry point into behavioral health, housing, and human services careers

About the Role

This is not a clinical or CNA position.

As a Respite Support Staff at Hope House, you provide a safe, structured, and respectful environment for adults experiencing homelessness who need a short-term place to rest and stabilize.

This program serves women and individuals who identify as female.

This role is centered on human connection, consistency, and emotional intelligence. You’ll build rapport with guests during their stay—offering support, being a resource, and sometimes simply being a calm, steady presence—while maintaining clear and professional boundaries.

This is also a strong entry point role for those interested in behavioral health, housing, or human services. Many team members use this position to explore the field and grow into other roles within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, calm, and respectful environment
  • Build appropriate rapport with guests while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Serve as a resource and steady point of contact during each shift
  • Use de-escalation and conflict resolution skills as needed
  • Monitor the environment to ensure safety and stability
  • Support daily routines, including meals and light cleaning
  • Connect guests with resources and support services
  • Complete basic documentation and shift notes
  • Work independently during assigned shifts

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

This role is a strong fit for individuals who:

  • Can connect easily with others while maintaining healthy boundaries
  • Bring a calm, professional, and reliable presence
  • Are comfortable in fast-paced or emotionally complex environments
  • Value structure, accountability, and teamwork

Relevant experience may include:

  • Customer service, hospitality, front desk, concierge
  • Shelter, housing, or community-based programs
  • Behavioral health, peer support, or recovery services
  • Crisis response, de-escalation, or community services

Schedule Options

  • Overnight Shift: Saturday & Sunday | 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM (+ $0.50/hr differential)
  • Day Shift: Saturday & Sunday | 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Additional hours available (up to full-time)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Age 21+
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Strong communication and professionalism
  • Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
  • Ability to work independently, especially nights and weekends
  • Willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/Food Handler’s Permit (employer supported)

Compensation & Benefits

  • $20.00/hr + overnight differential
  • 8 paid holidays + up to 5 floating holidays
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
    (~$12,000–$15,000 annual value)
  • Employer-paid life insurance & long-term disability
    (~$1,500–$2,500 annual value)
  • Generous PTO (vacation + sick leave)
  • 403(b) retirement plan
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)-eligible employer
  • Ongoing training and professional development
