About the Position
The Retail Sales Assistant provides friendly, responsive customer service and day-to-day sales support at the Girl Scouts of Western Washington (GSWW) Everett Retail Store. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, working in a customer-facing environment, and supporting customers in finding the Girl Scout uniforms, badges, patches, merchandise, and program materials they need. 

The Retail Sales Assistant also supports inventory and order fulfillment; receives and restocks merchandise; prepares merchandise for shipping; assists with the annual inventory audit; and helps maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment. The position independently opens and closes the store following training and provides occasional retail support for off-site events and activities throughout the Council region. 

This is a regular, part-time (up to 19 hours per week), non-exempt role based at our Everett Retail Store. The work schedule includes most Saturdays, and successful candidates must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire and reside within reasonable commuting distance of the Everett Retail Store. Occasional travel throughout the Council region may be required to support off-site retail events and activities. Girl Scouts of Western Washington offers an excellent work environment and meaningful mission-driven work. This position will start at $21.30 per hour. As a position scheduled for up to 19 hours per week, it is not eligible for GSWW-sponsored medical, dental, or vision insurance. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Provides welcoming and responsive customer service to customers in person, by phone, and by email.
• Assists customers with merchandise selection and provides information about Girl Scout uniforms, badges, patches, merchandise, and program-related materials.
• Accurately operates the point-of-sale system to process retail transactions.
• Receives and checks in deliveries, restocks merchandise, and helps maintain accurate and organized inventory.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming retail environment.
• Packages and labels merchandise for shipping.
• Uses a heat press to apply badges to uniforms.
• Opens and closes the store independently following completion of initial training.
• Assists customers with basic navigation of the GSWW website, GSWW online store and girlscoutshop.com. 
• Provides occasional retail support for off-site events and activities.
• Assists with the annual inventory audit.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance and works assigned shifts, including most Saturdays.
• ·Stays current on merchandise changes and other information needed to assist customers effectively.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or similar office applications.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential customer and member information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience Preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service, retail, or cashier experience.
• Knowledge of the Girl Scout program.

Other Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.
• Must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the GSWW Retail Store located in Everett.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Council region as needed, including in support of off-site retail events and activities.
• Valid Washington State driver's license preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to remain standing for much of the scheduled shift and perform routine retail activities requiring reaching, bending, and movement throughout the store, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
• Willingness to maintain Girl Scout membership.
