RFI: Yakutat Tlingit Tribal Member Housing Program

Introduction 

The Yakutat Tlingit Tribe (YTT is requesting information from qualified contractor interested in partnering with the Tribe on construction of affordable housing for Tribal Members in Yakutat, Alaska. 

Background

YTT is seeing innovative, attractive, and cost-effective housing designs that are suitable for long-term homeownership. At this time the Tribe is gathering information regarding contractor qualifications, conceptual designs, estimated costs, and construction timelines to assist with project planning and funding requirements.

Housing Concepts Requested

Please provide information and budgetary pricing for:

• Option 1: One-bedroom home with a loft.


• Option 2: An alternate design that provides similar functionality while emphasizing affordability, durability, energy efficiency, and efficient use of space.

Contractors are encouraged to recommend designs and construction methods that provide the best long-term value for Tribal homeowners in Southeast Alaska.

Please Include the Following Information

• Company overview and experience.


• Estimated construction timeline, including your earliest available start date.


• Current Alaska Business License.


• Proof of insurance.


• Three (3) references for similar residential construction projects.


• Budgetary cost estimate for each proposed option.


• A detailed list of items excluded from the estimate (such as freight, foundation, utilities, site work, permits, appliances, utility connections, landscaping, etc.).


• Any assumptions used in preparing the estimate.


• Information regarding your experience working in rural or remote Alaska, if applicable.

Project Schedule

The Yakutat Tlingit Tribe is working under grant funding deadlines and intends to move quickly once a construction approach is selected.

Our current goals are to:

• Begin construction on two (2) one-bedroom homes no later than  September 1, 2026.
  


• Obligate one of our grant funding sources by December 31, 2026.

Please indicate whether your firm has the capacity and availability to meet these anticipated timelines.
