Job Description
The RN - Clinical Educator Emergency Department serves as the clinical education leader and designated department educator for Emergency Services across the organization. Included locations are the main campus, Gulf Breeze Hospital, Jay Hospital, and the Free-Standing Emergency Departments. The role coordinates and evaluates orientation, onboarding, annual competencies, continuing education, simulation training, professional development programs, and the development, implementation, and ongoing support of Emergency Department nurse residency and transition-to-practice-programs. The Educator promotes excellence in emergency nursing practice through evidence-based care, regulatory compliance, and standardized clinical practice while supporting staff development, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with nursing leadership, providers, and interdisciplinary teams, the position monitors educational and quality outcomes, supports documentation and regulatory readiness, and implements strategies to improve patient safety, patient experience, employee engagement, retention, and clinical performance. Serving as a mentor, consultant educator, and change agent, the Emergency Department Educator fosters a culture of continuous learning and ensures the delivery of high-quality emergency care across all Emergency Services locations.



Responsibilities

What you will do
 

  • Conducts educational needs assessments and develops targeted learning plans to support clinical excellence and quality outcomes.
  • Coordinates and evaluates onboarding, orientation annual competencies, and continuing education programs for Emergency Department staff.
  • Validates clinical competency and maintains documentation supporting regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Utilizes quality, safety, and operational performance data to develop and implement education strategies to improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support quality improvement, patient safety, and practice standardization initiatives.
  • Serves as clinical resource, mentor, consultant, and facilitator for Emergency Department team members.
  • Leads simulation, emergency preparedness, and specialty education programs supporting emergency nursing practice.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice, professional development, specialty coordination, and continuous learning across all Emergency Services locations.
  • Leads the Emergency Department nurse residency program by coordinating curriculum delivery, competency validation, mentorship, and program evaluation to support successful transition into emergency nursing practice and improve retention and professional growth.


 



Qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum Education
 

  • Associates Degree Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred


Minimum Work Experience
 

  • 2 years Emergency Care nursing experience. Required


Licenses and Certifications
 

  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Upon Hire Required
  • PALS Provider (PALS) within 90 Days Required
  • Non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) within 90 Days Required
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) within 6 Months Required
  • Professional Nursing Certification Upon Hire Preferred


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
 

  • Knowledge of emergency nursing practice, evidence-based clinical standards, trauma, stroke, sepsis, behavioral health, and regulatory requirements applicable to Emergency Services.
  • Skill in curriculum development, adult learning principles, competency validation, simulation-based education, and evaluation of educational outcomes.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple educational initiatives, including orientation, nurse residency programs, annual competencies, certification preparation, and ongoing professional development activities across multiple locations.
  • Ability to analyze quality, safety, patient experience, and operational performance data to identify learning needs and develop targeted improvement strategies.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, communication, and facilitation skills with the ability to influence practice change and foster professional development among interdisciplinary team members.
