RN - Emergency Room

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Level 3 Trauma Center, which also serves as a Stroke and Cardiac Center.
• Manage an average of 45-55 patients per day in an ED with 11 beds, flexing up to 17 with chairs and hallway beds.
• Conduct triage using the ESI model in a designated triage room, with resources available for travelers.
• Oversee and manage ER boarders/holds mixed within the regular patient population.
• Deliver care for a variety of common diagnoses, including extremity injuries, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, sepsis, and chest pain.
• Perform bedside procedures with sedation as necessary.
• Maintain required certifications, including BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC; TNCC preferred.
• Collaborate with ED physicians and mid-level providers who are available 24/7.
• Work in a team with ED Techs who assist with splinting, basic wound care, transports, and EKGs.
• Monitor patients and read cardiac strips; no monitor techs are present in the ER.
• Utilize Meditech EMR for accurate documentation of patient care.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure and required certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC); TNCC preferred.
• Experience in the emergency department is highly preferred, along with charge nurse experience.
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR is highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.

Additional Information:

• Shifts are scheduled as 12 hours, with flexibility in starting times (days may start at 7 AM, 9 AM, or 11 AM; nights may start at 1 PM or 7 PM).
• Weekend requirements include working every other weekend; holiday work is expected as needed.
• No call or standby requirements.
• May be required to float to acute care or ICU, primarily for tasking purposes.
• Scrub color is navy blue. Scrubs are provided currently.
