RN Supervisor

Job Summary:

The RN Supervisor provides leadership and oversight of nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to residents in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. This role is responsible for supervising nursing operations during assigned shifts, coordinating patient care, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. 
   

   Leadership and Staff Supervision:

   
   
   
   
   • Supervise and direct RNs, LPNs, and CNAs during assigned shifts.
   
   
   • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to nursing staff to maintain high standards of care.
   
   
   • Address staff concerns, manage performance issues, and ensure adherence to facility policies and procedures.
   
   
   
   


2. 
   

   Resident Care Management:

   
   
   
   
   • Monitor and evaluate resident care to ensure compliance with care plans and best practices.
   
   
   • Assist with complex patient care needs and ensure proper interventions are implemented.
   
   
   • Communicate with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding residents' conditions and changes in care.
   
   
   
   


3. 
   

   Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:

   
   
   
   
   • Ensure nursing practices align with federal, state, and local regulations, including OBRA and CMS requirements.
   
   
   • Review and maintain accurate and timely documentation of care in electronic medical records (EMR).
   
   
   • Conduct audits and prepare for state and federal surveys as needed.
   
   
   
   


4. 
   

   Emergency Response and Safety:

   
   
   
   
   • Act as the lead responder for emergencies during the shift, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
   
   
   • Promote a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors by addressing hazards and implementing safety protocols.
   
   
   
   


5. 
   

   Training and Development:

   
   
   
   
   • Provide orientation and on-the-job training for new nursing staff.
   
   
   • Support continuing education and professional development of team members.
   
   
   
   


6. 
   

   Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution:

   
   
   
   
   • Address and resolve concerns from residents, families, and staff in a professional manner.
   
   
   • Identify operational challenges and collaborate with administration to implement solutions.
   
   
   
   

Qualifications:

• 
  

  Education and Licensure:

  
  
  
  
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
  
  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  
  
  
  


• 
  

  Experience:

  
  
  
  
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  
  
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  
  
  
  


• 
  

  Skills and Competencies:

  
  
  
  
  • Strong clinical knowledge in geriatric and long-term care nursing.
  
  
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  
  
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  
  
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a multidisciplinary team.

Work Environment:

• The RN Supervisor works in a skilled nursing facility and may require flexibility to work evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
