Position Summary
Provide perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room at the NIH Clinical Center, functioning in both scrub and circulating roles. Responsibilities include surgical case preparation, intraoperative patient monitoring, instrument and sterile-field management, and coordination with the surgical team across a range of procedures.
13 weeks with possible extension.
M-F 7a to 3:30p
Intermittent Oncall (6-8 times/month) on evenings, nights, weekends and Holidays as needed.
W-2 position.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or associate degree in Nursing from an accredited university; successful passage of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
Licensure: Valid, active RN license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States.
Certification: Current BLS; ACLS if required by the client. CNOR preferred.
Experience: Two to three (2–3) years of recent acute care hospital Operating Room experience, with the ability to both scrub and circulate. (Exceeds the PWS baseline of one year within the preceding three years in the designated specialty.)
Role-Specific Requirements
Demonstrated competency in both scrub and circulating roles.
Availability for intermittent on-call coverage (6–8 times per month) across evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
CNOR certification preferred.
