Job Description

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients preoperatively and postoperatively.
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 for admissions and up to 1:5 for discharges in the Preop area; 1:2 in the PACU, adjusting to 1:1 for airway management cases.
• Monitor patient vitals, administer medications, and perform assessments as required.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize Meditech EMR for documentation and patient management.
• Read and interpret cardiac rhythms effectively.
• Serve as a charge nurse when required, coordinating care without a patient assignment.

• Orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders, ortho spine)
• TLIF, hernias, laparoscopic cholecystectomy
• OB/GYN procedures (hysteroscopy, hysterectomy)
• Urology procedures (cystoscopy, prostate surgeries)
• ENT surgeries (including pediatric cases)

• Valid RN license in Washington State.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Strong critical care skills and a well-rounded nursing background.
• Knowledgeable in cardiac rhythms and monitoring.

• No respiratory therapy equipment such as vents is used in PACU; patients on vents are transferred directly to ICU.
• Currently, there are no nurse aids on the unit, but this may change in the future.
• Charge nurses typically do not take patient assignments but coordinate care as needed.
