Job Description - Robotics Maintenance Technician II / III

We believe intelligent robots will transform how goods move through the world. Building that future requires more than great technology. It requires deploying robots into the real world, learning from every success and failure, and continuously improving both the product and the customer experience.

At Tutor Intelligence, we build, deploy, maintain, and improve autonomous robotic systems operating in customer facilities across North America. Every robot in the field teaches us something. Every issue solved makes the fleet stronger.

Whether you're building robots, supporting customers, or troubleshooting systems in the field, your work has a direct impact on the future of automation.

Our Culture

We hire people who take ownership, solve problems, and care about the outcome.

We value accountability, teamwork, technical excellence, customer focus, safety, and continuous improvement. We move fast, communicate openly, and believe the best ideas can come from anywhere.

About the Role

The Robotics Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping customer robots running safely, reliably, and productively.

This is a hands-on field role supporting a growing fleet of autonomous robotic systems. You'll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot failures, execute repairs and upgrades, and serve as a trusted technical representative of Tutor Intelligence.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and taking ownership.

This role involves regular travel to customer sites throughout the United States. Most trips are short-duration service visits focused on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades. Technicians are generally home most weekends.

What You'll Do

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on robotic systems

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and controls-related issues

Execute upgrades, retrofits, and engineering changes

Document findings and collect data to support root cause analysis

Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Remote Support teams

Build strong relationships with customer site personnel

Help improve reliability, serviceability, and customer uptime

Additional Responsibilities for Level III

Own maintenance execution across assigned sites with minimal supervision

Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause investigations

Mentor technicians and develop field best practices

Create SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and service documentation

Serve as a trusted technical resource for customers and internal teams

Qualifications

Experience maintaining robotics, automation equipment, industrial machinery, AGVs, AMRs, conveyors, packaging equipment, or similar systems

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems

Ability to read schematics and technical documentation

Strong communication skills and customer-facing professionalism

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field

Why Join Tutor?

Most maintenance jobs are about keeping old equipment running.

This isn't one of them.

At Tutor, you'll work on cutting-edge robotic systems, solve real-world technical challenges, collaborate directly with Engineering and Operations leadership, and help shape the future of warehouse automation.

Your work matters. Your feedback influences product design. Your impact is visible.

As we grow, you'll have opportunities to advance into Lead Technician, Regional Maintenance Leader, Technical Specialist, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Success, or Operations roles.

If you want to build something meaningful while working on some of the most exciting robotics technology in the industry, we'd love to talk.
