Route Driver (CDL not required, Box Trucks)

Description

Purpose

Drivers are responsible for completing a scheduled route of donation pickups.

Reporting Relationship

Drivers report to the Director of Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Review and map out route provided. 
• Inspect interior and exterior of truck each day, as per Vehicle Safety Inspection Procedures
• Follow Driver Training Checklist and Procedures by stopping at every address on route, knock on every door, leave a receipt in every door and code the address appropriately.
• Maintain contact throughout the day with the dispatch office. 
• Radio dispatch upon completion of route for unloading directions.
• Notify dispatch of cartage weights.
• Turn in all paperwork, gas receipts, toll receipts, keys and return radio to base properly.
• Review weekly work schedule each day.
• Other tasks and/or assignments when needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience. (Non CDL)
• Fluency in English; reading, writing and speaking
• Must have clean driving record and be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Ability to read maps, follow instructions and communicate with internal staff and donors.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
• Ability to work outside in the elements i.e., heat, snow, rain.
• Strong customer service skills.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, bend, kneel, crouch and step. Repetition of the same movements, in and out of the truck, are constant. The employee is frequently required to use their hands to handle and control. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
