Key Responsibilities

Safety Vision and Leadership

• Develop and communicate a clear safety vision that aligns with company values, operational priorities, and long-term business goals.


• Serve as a visible safety champion across the organization by modeling safe behaviors, reinforcing expectations, and building trust with employees and leaders.


• Partner with executive and operational leadership to establish safety goals, priorities, key metrics, and improvement plans.


• Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification, prevention, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.


• Influence leaders and employees to view safety as an operational discipline and shared responsibility, not solely a compliance activity.


• Serves as the leader of the safety committee.

Procedure and Process Development

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, standards, and work practices that support safe and compliant operations.


• Assess current safety programs and identify gaps, inconsistencies, or improvement opportunities in procedures, training, documentation, and field execution.


• Create scalable safety processes that are practical, easy to understand, and capable of being consistently applied across locations, teams, and job types.


• Develop tools such as inspection checklists, job hazard analyses, safety observations, incident investigation templates, audit protocols, and corrective action tracking methods.


• Ensure safety procedures reflect applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including OSHA standards and other relevant regulatory obligations.

Safety Execution and Field Support

• Conduct field visits, facility inspections, jobsite reviews, and operational walkthroughs to identify hazards, evaluate practices, and support corrective actions.


• Provide hands-on coaching to employees and supervisors on safe work practices, hazard recognition, personal protective equipment, and procedure adherence.


• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and follow-up to prevent recurrence in partnership with HR.


• Monitor completion and effectiveness of safety actions, ensuring issues are resolved and lessons learned are incorporated into future practices.


• Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response procedures, evacuation plans, and employee communication.


• Lead safety audits as required by Emerson or customers.

Training, Communication, and Engagement

• Develop and deliver safety training programs that are relevant, practical, and aligned to the risks employees encounter in their work, in alignment with Learning and Development. Create clear and consistent paths for new hire onboarding and safety training, making it clear to employees, supervisors and others their responsibilities associated with safety, which will vary by role.


• Translate complex safety requirements into clear, accessible communication for employees, supervisors, and leaders.


• Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, lessons learned discussions, and other employee engagement forums.


• Encourage employee participation in safety improvement efforts and create channels for reporting hazards, concerns, and ideas.

Compliance, Metrics, and Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection results, training records, incident documentation, and corrective action data.


• Track and analyze safety metrics, trends, leading indicators, and recurring risks to inform priorities and improvement plans.


• Prepare safety reports and updates for leadership, highlighting progress, risks, actions, and recommendations.


• Manage safety dashboards and website tools.


• Stay current on regulatory changes, industry practices, and safety management trends that may impact the organization.


• Support regulatory inspections, audits, reporting, and follow-up activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, operations, or a related discipline.


• A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting and leading safety in field service, construction, manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or technical operations environments.


• Progressive experience in safety, environmental health and safety, operations safety, risk management, or a related field.


• Demonstrated experience developing and executing safety policies, procedures, and training programs.


• Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements and practical safety management practices.


• Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.


• Ability to balance strategic program development with hands-on field execution.


• Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.


• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, solve problems, and convert findings into practical action plans.


• Demonstrated confidence in communicating and influencing safety expectations.


• Expert ability to collaborate with teams and individuals to develop and deliver safety programs, tools and mechanisms for measurement of effectiveness.


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn or use safety management systems and reporting tools.


• Has a clear driving record and is able to pass MVR and background and drug screenings, pre-employment and in a random fashion.


• Experience building or maturing a safety program in a growing organization preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Regular presence in operational environments, jobsites, warehouses, shops, or field locations as needed to observe work and support safety execution.


• Willingness to travel between company locations or job sites as required, including overnight travel.


• Must be able to perform physical activities associated with safety walkthroughs, inspections, and field support, including standing and walking for extended periods; bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs or ladders as needed; and occasionally lifting or carrying items related to inspections or safety activities.

Compensation and Benefits

• This is a professional, exempt position with a base salary and the opportunity of bonus or incentive. The pay range is $95,000 to $115,000 and will depend fully upon skills and direct experience.    Significant direct experience may result in higher earnings potential.
