Salary: Starting at $70,000 (higher based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Safety Specialist to support the implementation and daily execution of workplace safety programs within a manufacturing and fabrication environment. This hands-on role focuses on hazard recognition, employee engagement, safety compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout operations.
The ideal candidate will maintain a visible presence on the production floor, work closely with employees and supervisors, and help ensure safe and efficient workplace practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a consistent presence throughout the production and fabrication areas.
- Observe daily operations and identify potential hazards in real time.
- Engage employees to reinforce safe work practices and address unsafe conditions.
- Promote a positive and proactive safety culture.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and observations.
- Identify safety concerns and opportunities for improvement.
- Document findings and track corrective actions through completion.
- Support compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with safety orientation and onboarding for new employees.
- Support the delivery of toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions.
- Provide practical safety coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors.
- Help communicate safety expectations and best practices across the workforce.
- Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss reporting.
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Help develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed effectively.
- Maintain safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, and related files.
- Assist with regulatory and internal compliance documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for safety programs and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in a safety, EHS, risk management, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
- Knowledge of workplace safety principles, hazard recognition, and incident investigation practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, or related credentials are preferred.
