Sales Associate

Choice Building Supply Ace Hardware is looking for an experienced, motivated Lumber & Building Materials Sales Associate to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who understands the building industry, enjoys working with contractors and homeowners, and can take a customer’s project from an idea or set of plans to a complete material proposal.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Work directly with contractors, builders, and homeowners on building projects

• Read building plans and prepare accurate material takeoffs and proposals

• Estimate lumber and building-material quantities for residential and commercial projects

• Prepare quotes and help customers compare products and options

• Follow up on quotes, projects, orders, and customer needs

• Build strong, long-term relationships with our contractor and homeowner customers

• Help customers select the right lumber, roofing, siding, insulation, hardware, and other building materials for their projects

• Enter quotes, orders, and customer information accurately into our computer system

• Coordinate with our lumberyard and delivery team to make sure orders are complete and ready when promised

• Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and professional customer service from the beginning of a project through completion

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Our ideal candidate:

• Has previous experience in construction, building materials, lumber sales, estimating, or a related building-industry position

• Has experience completing material takeoffs and project estimates

• Can read and understand construction plans and blueprints

• Is comfortable using computers and learning new software

• Has strong math, organization, and attention-to-detail skills

• Is confident communicating with contractors, builders, and homeowners

• Is customer-service and sales driven

• Can manage multiple quotes, projects, and deadlines at the same time

• Takes ownership of their work and follows through with customers

• Works well as part of a team

BUILDING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS HIGHLY PREFERRED.

We’re especially interested in candidates with experience working for a lumberyard, building-material supplier, contractor, home builder, construction company, or similar business.
