We are looking for an experienced and growth-driven Sales Head to lead and scale General Trade (GT) operations across African markets. This role is responsible for driving sales growth, expanding distribution networks, strengthening trade marketing initiatives, and building high-performing regional sales teams.
The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in GT sales, channel expansion, distributor management, and trade marketing within FMCG or consumer-focused industries. You will play a strategic leadership role in developing market penetration plans, improving retail visibility, and accelerating business growth across diverse territories.

Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end sales operations across assigned African markets with complete ownership of revenue growth and market expansion.
Develop and execute GT sales strategies aligned with overall business and distribution objectives.
Build, manage, and strengthen distributor and dealer networks to ensure deep market penetration and availability.
Drive trade marketing initiatives including retailer activation, visibility campaigns, merchandising, and channel promotions.
Identify new business opportunities, emerging markets, and expansion territories to increase market share.
Monitor sales performance, distributor productivity, and channel effectiveness through data-driven reporting and analysis.
Collaborate with supply chain, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives.
Lead negotiations with distributors, key accounts, and channel partners to maximize business opportunities.
Build and mentor regional sales teams, ensuring strong execution discipline and performance management.
Develop go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new product launches and market entry initiatives.
Ensure strong retail execution standards and improve brand visibility across trade channels.
Analyze competitor activities, consumer trends, and market dynamics to drive strategic decisions.
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, distributors, and business partners across regions.
What Makes You a Great Fit
15+ years of experience in sales leadership with strong exposure to General Trade (GT) and trade marketing.
Proven track record of driving large-scale sales growth and distribution expansion in international or emerging markets.
Strong understanding of GTM strategy, retail execution, distributor management, and channel development.
Experience handling multi-country or regional sales operations, preferably in African markets.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to build high-performing sales organizations.
Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and market expansion expertise.
Ability to work in fast-paced, high-growth environments with strong ownership and execution focus.
Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and business planning capabilities.
