As a strategic Motorola Solutions partner, FCC delivers mission-critical communications, video security, access control, mobile technology, and related support services. Our reputation has been built on reliability, integrity, technical expertise, and long-term customer relationships.
We are investing in growth and are seeking a driven, credible, and relationship-focused Regional Sales Executive to expand our public safety and government business across Western and Central New York.
The Opportunity
This is a field-based, new-business sales role for someone who enjoys building a territory, opening doors, solving operational challenges, and closing meaningful technology opportunities.
You will sell Motorola Solutions equipment and FCC’s related service offerings to law-enforcement agencies, sheriffs’ offices, fire departments, EMS organizations, municipal governments, and other public-sector customers. Solutions may include:
- In-car and mobile video systems
- Body-worn camera solutions
- Automated license plate recognition technology
- Public-safety communications and related equipment
- Security and video-surveillance solutions
- Multi-year maintenance, support, and service agreements
Success in this role requires a disciplined “hunter” mentality, strong consultative-selling ability, comfort with public procurement, and the ability to build credibility with command staff, IT leaders, municipal administrators, purchasing teams, and other stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute a territory-growth strategy for public safety and government accounts throughout Western and Central New York.
- Identify, pursue, and win new business with police departments, sheriff’s offices, fire departments, EMS agencies, municipalities, and related public-sector organizations.
- Build productive relationships with chiefs, command staff, investigators, IT leaders, procurement professionals, municipal administrators, and other key decision-makers.
- Prospect consistently through cold calling, referral development, networking, account research, in-person meetings, and targeted outreach.
- Lead consultative discovery conversations to understand operational, investigative, communications, security, and safety challenges.
- Present Motorola Solutions technology and FCC service offerings in a clear, compelling, and customer-focused manner.
- Coordinate product demonstrations, site visits, proposals, presentations, and negotiations.
- Develop and close complex opportunities involving capital budgets, multi-year agreements, recurring service revenue, and six-figure solution sales.
- Navigate public-sector purchasing processes, including RFPs, bid specifications, budget cycles, cooperative purchasing vehicles, and multi-stakeholder evaluations.
- Work closely with FCC leadership, technical resources, engineers, and manufacturer partners to develop effective customer solutions.
- Expand existing customer relationships by identifying opportunities for service agreements, maintenance programs, upgrades, and additional high-value technologies.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, pipeline activity, opportunity plans, and account information.
- Represent FCC professionally at customer meetings, industry events, demonstrations, and regional public-safety gatherings.
- Travel throughout Western and Central New York, approximately 50% of the time.
What Success Looks Like
- Consistently achieves or exceeds new-business and revenue goals.
- Builds a robust, qualified, and forward-looking territory pipeline through personal prospecting activity.
- Wins new public-safety and government customers in priority markets.
- Closes complex technology and service opportunities with strong gross-margin contribution.
- Grows recurring revenue through maintenance, support, and multi-year service agreements.
- Develops trusted relationships that generate repeat business, referrals, and account expansion.
- Demonstrates strong ownership of territory strategy, pipeline health, activity levels, and forecast accuracy.
- Establishes FCC as a strategic partner—not simply an equipment vendor—for public-safety and municipal customers.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of successful B2B sales experience, ideally involving security, communications, public safety, technology, telecommunications, or complex business solutions.
- Four or more years of outside-sales experience in a consultative, territory-based, or complex-sales environment.
- Demonstrated success generating new business through proactive prospecting, cold calling, networking, and account development.
- Experience closing large, consultative sales involving multiple decision-makers, technical requirements, capital budgets, or extended sales cycles.
- Ability to engage effectively with executive, operational, technical, and procurement stakeholders.
- Experience selling to government, municipalities, law enforcement, fire/EMS, education, or another public-sector market is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of public-sector procurement, RFPs, bids, grant-funded purchasing, and budget cycles is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Entrepreneurial, self-directed approach to territory ownership and business development.
- High level of organization, accountability, follow-through, and CRM discipline.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical solutions in a practical, customer-friendly way.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
Experienced law-enforcement, fire-service, EMS, emergency-management, or public-safety leaders who are interested in moving into a business-development career are encouraged to apply, provided they bring the communication skills, commercial mindset, and drive required for a quota-carrying sales role.
