As a Vehicle Engineer \u2013 Level 3 or Level 4 located in Colorado Springs, CO, you\u2019ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.\n\nThis position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.\n\nJob responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:\n\n * Provide mission operations support to Satellite programs including on orbit vehicle/sustaining engineering.\n * Support activities such as system problem/anomaly resolution support, data trending, operational product updates, and performance analyses\n * Lead/Coordinate other systems engineers to conduct anomaly review board investigations as necessary. \n * Investigation and diagnosis of unexpected system signatures\n * Support operations readiness activities including configuration control board and other customer meetings\n * Support operations, including shift work which will include 12 hour and night shifts\n * Make modifications to existing operations procedures to incorporate lessons learned from in-flight performance. Develop new procedures as required. \n * Supporting the coordination and execution of system maintenance tasks and coordinating across multiple contractor organizations including customer and external system partners to diligently accomplish all tasks\n * Perform demonstrations and conduct briefings explaining how to utilize mission systems to accomplish task-based objectives\n * Performing quantitative risk analysis\n * Providing 24x7on-call support to lead the resolution of system issues and anomalies. May involve periodic rotating crew shifts to maintain proficiency. \n * Provide status reporting through both the functional and program reporting branches.\n * Maintain standards associated with the established Integrated/Developmental Operations functional group processes.\n * Support internal and external customer meetings through proficient verbal and documented (MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel) communications.\n * May require travel ~ 10% of the time for support of customer or backup mission operations center.\n * Support On-Orbit Checkout and Validation events during Launch and Early orbit \u2013 will require travel.\n * Other duties as assigned\n\n\n\nIf this job description reads like it was written specifically for you, consider joining our team!\n\nThis position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.\n\nThis position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.\n\nBasic Qualifications for Level 3:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering with 5 years of professional experience \u2013 OR \u2013 Master\u2019s degree with 3 years of professional experience \u2013 OR \u2013 PhD with 1 year of professional experience. \n * Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application\n * Ability to work within a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.\n * Knowledge and experience in satellite operations engineering disciplines to include attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, flight and ground software, and anomaly determination and resolution\n * Previous experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and performing analysis on operational systems\n * Experience writing technical documents for external customers\n * Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to external customers at milestone reviews\n * Be able to make decisions under high pressure environments and maintain composure in stressful situations\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications for Level 4:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering with 8 years of professional experience \u2013 OR \u2013 Master\u2019s degree with 6 years of professional experience \u2013 OR \u2013 PhD with 4 years of professional experience. \n * Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application\n * Ability to work within a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.\n * Knowledge and experience in satellite operations engineering disciplines to include attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and data handling, flight and ground software, and anomaly determination and resolution\n * Previous experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and performing analysis on operational systems\n * Experience writing technical documents for external customers\n * Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to external customers at milestone reviews\n * Be able to make decisions under high pressure environments and maintain composure in stressful situations\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications: \n\n * Leadership experience within a diverse team of engineers/operators\n * Ability to task and manage a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.\n * Experience working on government systems and/or government process environment\n * Experience with at least one S/C Subsystem (ADCS, CDH, COMM, EPDS, Thermal, FSW).\n * Support mission simulation, scripting, and verification activities.\n * Proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages/tools: MATLAB, Python, SIMULINK, Fortran, Java, C/ C++\n * Experience with rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) or formation flight\n * Background/fundamental understanding of performing statistical analysis\n * Experience operating Tactical Space Systems bus product lines is strongly desired.\n * Experience using Tactical Space Systems ground software products is strongly desired.\n\n\n\nCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
