Title: School Site Coordinator 

Supervisor: Program Director of School-Based Clubs 

Site Location: Clifton Public Elementary Schools  

Exempt/Nonexempt: Part-Time, Non - Exempt 

Position Overview:

The Afterschool Site Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for multiple before-and-after school programs located in elementary schools throughout the City of Clifton. Reporting to the Program Director of School-Based Clubs, this position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, engaging, and high-quality youth development programs that support the social, emotional, and academic growth of school-aged children.  

The Site Coordinator oversees daily program operations, supervises and mentors staff, ensures compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements, implements high-quality curriculum and enrichment activities, builds strong partnerships with families, schools, and community organizations, and supports the continued growth and success of school-based youth programs.  

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Leadership, Curriculum & Quality
  • Provide leaderships and oversight for the daily operations of multiple school-based before-and after-school programs, ensuring consistent schedules, routines, and developmentally appropriate practices.  
  • Support the Program Director in implementing, assessing, and continuously improving hands-on learning experiences and high-yield activities aligned with out-of-school-time best practices and Boys & Girls Club youth development outcomes. 
  • Conduct regular site observations to ensure program quality and promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive learning environments. 
  • Monitor program performance and recommend improvements that enhance participant engagement and overall program effectiveness. 

2. Licensing, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable New Jersey Department of Children and Families (NJDCF), New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), and state and local childcare licensing regulations. 
  • Maintain accurate child and staff records, attendance, incident reports, and all required program documentation. 
  • Stay current on licensing standards and ensure staff consistently follow all policies, procedures, and mandated reporting requirements. 

3. Staff Management, Coaching & Culture

  • Onboard, supervise, schedule, and evaluate site staff to maintain appropriate staffing ratios and continuity of care. 
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities that foster continuous improvement and staff engagement. 
  • Promote a collaborative, positive, and inclusive team culture. 
  • Model professionalism, integrity, accountability, and excellent customer service for staff, youth, and families. 

4. Family, School & Community Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and family engagement activities. 
  • Collaborate with Clifton Public Schools, community partners, and stakeholders to support student success, smooth transitions, and coordinated services. 
  • Represent the organization professionally within schools and the broader community. 

5. Safety, Risk Management & Professional Conduct

  • Ensure all program environments are safe, clean, welcoming, and well-equipped to provide high-quality care and instruction. 
  • Implement and monitor safety procedures, emergency preparedness plans, confidentiality standards, and facility maintenance practices. 
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and other situations requiring sound judgment and timely decision-making. 
  • Complete all required trainings, certifications, and professional development activities. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday.  
  • Ability to occasionally run actively and participate in indoor and outdoor recreational activities with children.  
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.  

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, child development, human services, recreation, or a related field is a plus. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a licensed childcare center, school-age program, or similar youth development setting. 
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff. 
  • Strong knowledge of child and youth development principles and positive behavior management strategies. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and establish appropriate professional boundaries. 
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks, fingerprinting, and health clearances. 
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with culturally diverse children and families, including youth with special needs. 
  • Bilingual or multilingual, with English/Spanish strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with out-of-school-time programming, licensing compliance, and quality improvement initiatives. 

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7AM – 9AM, 2:30PM – 6PM, Occasional evenings and weekends 

Compensation: $30.00/hr
