School-Age Teacher - Active Learning Centers, Trexlertown

Active Learning Centers is an award winning, family owned, Child Care looking for excellent teachers for our School Age before and after program. We believe in fostering creativity and hands on experiences and learning for children to run, play, and explore in a nurturing and safe environment. A great candidate will be able to provide guidance and coaching to help the children navigate challenges, work successfully in groups, and maintain control of their emotions. They will also be able to provide assistance with schoolwork and homework. We love what we do and love to have fun while doing it! We are looking for new team members to start with us today! 

School-Age Teacher positions are typically part-time, with shifts 6:30am-9am and/or 2pm-6pm, available.

All applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, at least 18 years of age, and a clear background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop a careful and creative program suitable for school-age children


• Employee a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media, etc.) to teach children


• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem


• Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments


• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum


• Organize snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times


• Track children's progress and report to parents


• Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche


• Collaborate with other educators


• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Skills

• Proven experience as a Teacher (School-Age experience is a plus)


• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development


• Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms


• Excellent communication and instructional skills


• Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable


• Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
  


• BSc/BA in education or relevant field
