Seasonal Audio-Visual Technician

Robert R. McCormick Charitable Trust and designated Cantigny as a public space for education and recreation. Cantigny Park is home to the McCormick House, First Division Museum, formal gardens, picnic grounds, and walking trails. Cantigny is host to numerous special events, concerts, weddings, garden tours, museum tours, lectures, horticulture workshops, fitness classes, and more throughout the year. 

Position Summary 

The AV Intern will support the AV team in installing speakers for the Christmas at Cantigny show. This role will involve setting up equipment, troubleshooting technical issues. The ideal candidate has experience in outdoor wire installation, detail-oriented, and is willing to work outside in hot and cold temperatures. This is a part-time position that reports to the Lead AV Technician. This is a part-time seasonal position that will run from October 22nd to October 30th.  

Essential Functions 

• AV Setup and Operation: Assist with speaker installation. 
• Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the routine maintenance of AV equipment, including cleaning, testing, and performing minor repairs. 
• Troubleshooting: Help troubleshoot technical issues with speaker installation. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education: High School, Bachelor’s or pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Audio Engineering, Media  

Experience: 1 year or less. 

Skills: 

• Interest in AV technology and live event production. 
• Basic understanding of AV equipment such as speaker wiring and signal flow. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
• Willingness to work in outdoor conditions. 
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team setting. 
• Ability to lift and transport AV equipment (up to 50 lbs). 
• Availability to work flexible hours, depending on weather conditions. 

Working Conditions: 

This is a part-time position that reports to the Lead AV Technician. This position will work in both outdoor and indoor settings and will be exposed to a variety of weather conditions such as cold, hot, or rainy or snowy weather.
