Job Description - Seasonal Producer

Status: Temporary (Seasonal), Part-Time (up to 30 hours/week)



THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Associate Creative Director of Production, the Seasonal Producer supports BAYCAT's client productions from pre-production through post-production while serving as a mentor for youth and emerging creatives across BAYCAT's Academy programming. This role works across both Studio initiatives, providing production support, client communication, freelance coordination, post-production management, and Programming initiatives by providing mentorship to ensure successful creative and educational outcomes.

  • Empower 200+ young creators yearly, guiding them through the media-making process.

  • Collaborate with 250+ partners, bridging the digital divide for 4,700+ youths over 17 years.

  • Provide paid media arts training for young people while creating stories that progress social justice.



WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:



  • Brings 2+ years of project management or production management experience.

  • Brings 5+ years of filmmaking experience and is highly knowledgeable in creative development, pre-production, production, and post-production, with confidence producing projects from concept through final delivery.

  • Is comfortable producing across all phases of production, including pre-production planning, production logistics, post-production workflows, and client delivery.

  • Is knowledgeable in professional production equipment and confidently communicates technical workflows with contractors, teaching artists, and program participants.

  • Is passionate about BAYCAT's mission and the value of equity, diversity, and inclusion within filmmaking and media, with a working knowledge and lived experience aligned with BAYCAT's racial justice values & is a humanistic, equity-centered leader who builds trust, models emotionally intelligent communication, and creates collaborative, accountable teams.

  • Is organized, responsive, solutions-oriented, adaptable, and resourceful.

  • Is a strong project manager with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines, delegate effectively, and hold collaborators accountable.

  • Is capable of managing clients, creative contractors, and early-career creatives including high school age youth, interns, and 18+ emerging filmmakers.



THE DETAILS



  • This is a temporary (seasonal), part-time position, working up to 30 hours per week.

  • Hours will vary based on active client productions and BAYCAT Academy programming needs. Weekly schedules will be communicated approximately one week in advance and may include occasional evenings or weekends depending on production schedules.

  • Compensation: $40/hr

  • Location: This is a hybrid role with the opportunity to work remotely when appropriate. Onsite presence is required for Productions, In-Office support, or other BAYCAT collaborative events.



ROLES & RESPONSABILITIES


Client Production Support & Studio Operations – 60%


Support BAYCAT Studio in the day-to-day execution of client productions from project intake through delivery.



  • Coordinate incoming Studio inquiry emails and respond to production requests.

  • Schedule introductory meetings between prospective clients and the Associate Creative Director of Production.

  • Attend intake meetings and client meetings, recording detailed notes, action items, and next steps as assigned. 

  • Support creative development through research, brainstorming sessions, pitch meetings, and be consulted during proposal development.

  • Responsible for maintenance of production documentation, timelines, expense tracking, and internal project management systems.

  • Serve as on-site production manager, producer and/or client liaison when necessary. Opportunities for creative producing where appropriate. 

  • Participate in internal creative reviews to maintain the highest quality of work.

  • Onboard freelance editors into BAYCAT's post-production workflow.

  • Support post-production supervision by coordinating timelines, managing edit schedules, organizing client feedback, and ensuring communication between editors and clients remains clear and on schedule.

  • Manage & supervise Freelance Contractors for Client Projects.



Studio Operations & Equipment - 30%


Support the daily operational needs of BAYCAT Studio.



  • Confidently oversee use of production equipment including checkout, pickup, quality control, returns, and equipment reset.

  • Maintain organized gear storage and communicate equipment issues proactively.

  • Support production logistics and equipment preparation for client productions and aid in on-site productions where necessary. 

  • Confidence in camera operation to gather visual elements if necessary, as well as small scale interview set-ups where necessary. 



Programs Support - 10% 



  • Provide production support and mentorship to BAYCAT program participants, as schedule allows.

  • Deliver workshops and training as part of BAYCAT Programs, as assigned. 

  • Provide event production support for BAYCAT events.
