Second Shift Shop Operations Supervisor - Manufacturing

Lead and supervise production operations to ensure efficient manufacturing of company products while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive continuous improvement, develop team members, and deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Second Shift: This is a second shift position. Start time will vary according to operational demands. Typical start time is 4:00 PM, followed by a 9-hour shift.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production activities, establish work schedules, and monitor team performance to meet delivery commitments

• Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, quality standards, ISO requirements, and regulatory guidelines

• Plan production schedules, manage workflow bottlenecks, and requisition supplies to optimize efficiency

• Train, coach, and develop employees on safety procedures (JSAs), quality standards, and best operational practices

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, LEAN manufacturing, scrap reduction, and productivity enhancements

• Monitor and control production costs, reduce variances, and manage departmental budgets effectively

• Conduct performance reviews, administer corrective actions, and participate in recruitment of production staff

• Provide regular reporting on key metrics including productivity, quality, output, and safety performance

• Foster effective communication with internal stakeholders and maintain a culture of accountability and excellence

Skills / Education

• 5-7 years of manufacturing experience with 5+ years in machining operations

• 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience

• Strong machining and manufacturing process knowledge

• Proven ability to train, coach, and lead improvement activities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Ability to manage budgets and control cost of goods sold

• Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and respond to emergency situations

• Associate degree or 2 years of college education

• Experience with time and attendance systems, JDE (or equivalent ERP), and LEAN methodologies
