We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the accounting team and serve as a “go-to” resource for the Controller in day-to-day accounting operations and process improvement. This position will play a key role in strengthening our financial operations while supporting a fast-growing, multi-unit QSR franchise brand. Location: This position is onsite in Florence, SC; however, remote status with occasional travel may be considered for well-qualified candidates who demonstrate strong autonomy, prioritization, and accountability.
Job Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant plays a vital role on the accounting team, supporting both internal and external business partners. This position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including full-cycle period-end closing duties, account reconciliations and analyses, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and balance daily sales from the point-of-sale system.
- Perform timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies to support reliable financial reporting.
- Support period-end close, including accruals, account analyses, and the preparation of accurate financial statements.
- Identify anomalies, missing transactions, or irregularities and proactively resolve them.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Manage compliance matters, including business licenses, permits, and sales and use tax returns.
- Review monthly sales tax worksheets and file and pay sales taxes to the appropriate authorities.
- Support interim and year-end audit work as needed.
- Manage annual 1099 filings and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that increase efficiency, clarity, and financial accuracy, including the development and documentation of accounting processes. Apply professional curiosity and professional skepticism to fully understand processes and help ensure their effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or proven work experience as an accountant or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting and GAAP.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, adapt, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
