Senior Business Analyst in Finance

We're looking for a Senior Business Analyst in Finance to join our organization in Baltimore, United States. In this role, you will serve as a strategic partner to our finance leadership team, translating complex financial data into actionable business insights. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical capabilities with a deep understanding of financial processes, driving data-informed decision-making across the organization.

• Analyze financial data and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
• Develop comprehensive business requirements and functional specifications for finance-related projects and initiatives
• Design and maintain financial dashboards, reports, and analytical models to support executive decision-making
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including finance, IT, and operations teams, to gather requirements and implement solutions
• Conduct root cause analysis on financial discrepancies and performance variances, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management
• Support financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities through data analysis and modeling
• Document processes, procedures, and system configurations to ensure organizational knowledge and compliance
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and adherence to regulatory requirements across all analytical work
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the professional development of the team
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in financial analysis

**Required Skills and Experience:**

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of business analysis experience within the finance or banking sector
• Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
• Expert-level Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and VBA programming
• Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik
• Strong knowledge of financial systems, accounting principles, and financial reporting processes
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
• Proficiency with data visualization and storytelling techniques

**Preferred Skills and Experience:**

• Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and financial controls
• Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or Oracle
• Certification in business analysis (CBAP or CCBA)
• Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for advanced data analysis
• Background in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
• Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms
