Senior Commissioning & Integrated Systems Testing SME (Electrical & Digital Infrastructure)

Overview

The Senior Commissioning & Integrated Systems Testing SME provides enterprise-level technical leadership for the commissioning, energization, operational readiness, and Level 1–4 testing of critical electrical and digital infrastructure. This role serves as a senior technical authority across design, construction, startup, integrated systems testing, owner acceptance, and turnover. Working across internal teams, contractors, vendors, and operational stakeholders, this leader establishes commissioning standards, mitigates technical risk, and drives safe, reliable, on-time delivery of complex mission-critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Develop enterprise commissioning strategies, standards, governance, execution plans, and testing methodologies for critical infrastructure projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Lead Level 1 factory acceptance testing (FAT), Level 2 pre-functional testing, Level 3 functional testing, and Level 4 integrated systems testing (IST).

  
  


• 
  

  Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting expertise for medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, protective relays, ATS/STS, and EPMS.

  
  


• 
  

  Lead integration and testing of BMS/BAS, SCADA, DCIM, PLC, EPMS, and controls platforms, including BACnet, Modbus TCP/IP, SNMP, and OPC-UA protocols.

  
  


• 
  

  Develop and oversee energization plans, outage coordination plans, switching procedures, and operational readiness activities with a strong focus on safety and system reliability.

  
  


• 
  

  Manage commissioning risks, deficiencies, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions to improve first-pass testing performance and ensure successful system acceptance.

  
  


• 
  

  Lead owner acceptance testing, integrated systems testing completion, turnover, and operational readiness reviews to support on-time transition to operations.

  
  


• 
  

  Mentor commissioning managers, engineers, and third-party providers while establishing a culture of technical rigor, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  
  

Qualifications

• 
  

  15+ years of experience in commissioning, testing, startup, electrical systems, or mission-critical operations, including 10+ years leading complex mission-critical projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Demonstrated success developing and executing Level 1–4 commissioning and integrated systems testing programs for complex electrical and digital infrastructure.

  
  


• 
  

  Deep technical knowledge of MV/LV distribution, protective relaying and coordination, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, ATS/STS, BMS/BAS, EPMS, SCADA, automation, DCIM, and associated controls.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, risk-management, decision-making, stakeholder-management, and executive communication capabilities.

  
  


• 
  

  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience, preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  NETA Level III/IV, CCP, CBCP, CxA, or comparable commissioning credentials preferred; hyperscale data center experience is highly desirable.
